Zotus City Development Group (ZCDG), in partnership with the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) and the Trans-Kalahari Corridor Secretariat (TKC), has signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement that will position Zotus City as a premier regional logistics and trade hub.

This groundbreaking agreement integrates Zotus City into the Trans-Kalahari Corridor, a vital trade route connecting the ports of Walvis Bay in Namibia to Gauteng in South Africa, passing through Botswana. The corridor represents one of Southern Africa's most important trade arteries, handling billions of dollars in goods annually.

Key elements of the Strategic Partnership include:

Logistics Infrastructure Development: The programme envisages logistics facilities, including multimodal transport terminals, warehousing complexes, and customs processing centers designed to streamline cross border trade, subject to feasibility, approvals and delivery phasing.

Special Economic Zone Framework: Businesses operating within Zotus City's planned logistics zone are expected to benefit from the incentive and customs framework applicable to designated Special Economic Zones, together with access to regional markets along the corridor. Any SEZ incentives, licensing and customs treatment remain subject to formal designation, applicable law and the relevant approvals.

Sustainable Transport Solutions: The partnership emphasizes green logistics, incorporating electric vehicle fleets, solar powered facilities, and sustainable supply chain practices.

Investment Attraction: Investment promotion and engagement with international investors forms part of the signed cooperation framework with BITC, highlighting the advantages of the Trans-Kalahari Corridor location.

The agreement positions Botswana as a strategic gateway for regional trade, reducing transport costs and transit times for goods moving between the Atlantic and Indian Ocean trade routes.
